Sam joined Darton Commodities in 2011 after graduating from the University of Leeds. During his time at Darton Commodities Sam has gained detailed knowledge of the financing, handling and shipping minor metals. Sam is part of the trading and marketing team with Guy and Andries and currently serves as a Director of the MMTA.
Andries joined Darton Commodities Ltd. in 2007. Prior to this Andries was European Sales Manager for Sherritt International Corporation, a Canadian company specialized in the mining and refining of commodity nickel and cobalt products. Here he was directly responsible for the marketing and sales of Sherritt brand cobalt products into Europe and several other geographic markets. Having been active in the cobalt market for over 20 years, Andries has acquired a vast experience and knowledge of the cobalt industry. Andries sits on the CDI's Statistical Committee and is author of Darton’s annual Market Review.
Guy commenced his career in the metals industry in 1979 at Derek Raphael and Company rising to become Managing Director before starting Darton Commodities Ltd in 2000 together with his business partner Roy Walton. Today Darton Commodities Ltd is one of the largest independent cobalt trading houses and exclusively partners Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Company Ltd, the world’s largest cobalt refinery in the sale of their cobalt metal in Europe. Guy was Chair of the MMTA between 2009 and 2012 and currently sits on the LME cobalt committee.
Roy joined Derek Raphael & Company in 1993 after 9 years in the accountancy profession, becoming the Finance Director in1995 before setting up Darton Commodities with Guy in 2000.
Roy has gained much experience in the financing, shipping, purchasing and marketing of minor metals, ferro alloys and ores specialising in cobalt metal.
Darton Commodities was a founder member of CoRC, prior to its formation Roy served on the REACh Implementation task force of the CDI and currently serves on the Executive Committee of CoRC. Roy served as Chairman of the MMTA 2012 to 2015.
